Twitter - https://twitter.com/mnightmannequin About the Album Missing no longer. Jason Priest (aka Antoni Maiovvi) has resurfaced with the new album, For Your Consideration, on Midnight Mannequin Records. The follow-up to the well-received Jason Priest Is Missing (2021), For Your Consideration sees Priest channeling his inner Bowie and pushing further into pop territory, all the while continuing to ride the synth and shoegaze waves. With this latest effort, Priest has turned in a record that sonically feels like the missing link between Disintegration and Wish. Appropriate words given he’s facing an existential crisis; you know, being a figment of someone else’s imagination and all. He’s watching his world disintegrate around him, praying, no, wishing he could hold it together long enough to finally make it big. Lyrically there’s still plenty of weight, as an older, more mature Priest reflects on a misspent youth and wrestles with feelings of isolation and a loosening grip on reality. But that doesn’t stop him from challenging the listener to look inside and reflect on both the circumstantial and self-inflicted crises that feel all too real in this uncertain modern world. Angst. Despair. Distress. It’s all there. All for your consideration. And the award goes to… About the Artist Jason Priest is the post-punk/synthpop alter ego of Antoni Maiovvi, an artist with immeasurable talent and almost as many creative aliases as he has releases under his studded leather belt. Maybe you know him as the co-founder of Giallo Disco Records, or for his previous work on Death Waltz Originals, or as the creative force behind a long list of horror soundtracks, both real and imagined. Now is your chance to know him as Jason Priest, the British punk rocker who heads to New York City in 1982 on the heels of a brand new record deal, only to spend the better part of the decade strung out on amphetamines and drowning in alcohol. Now back in London, Jason is sober for the first time in years and dealing with an existential crisis, coming to grips with the idea that maybe he's only a figment of someone else's imagination... Firestations - 'Undercover' (Official Video)

The new PostMap single from London dream pop outfit 'Firestations'. Taken from the forthcoming album Thick Terrain - out on July 14, 2023 on limited edition 12" vinyl via Lost Map. Pre-order: https://www.lostmap.com/products/firestations-thick-terrain Video by Sam Wisternoff https://samwisternoff.wixsite.com/illspectreproduction Recorded at Otterhead Studios Engineered by Oscar Ball & Ellis Powell-Bevan Mixed by Mike Cranny Mastered by Ross McGowan Artwork by Laura Copsey x KeelerTornero Special thanks to Giles Littleford ======== Firestations are Michael Cranny, Laura Copsey, Martin Thompson, Tom Hargreaves and Neil Walsh. Together they make music spanning genres from shoegazey indie to synth pop and harmony-driven psychedelia. Their debut album for Lost Map, The Year Dot, was released in 2018 and was hailed by The List magazine for “pursuing ambitious social commentaries while playfully teasing its own sonic glitches”. The Automatic Tendencies project – a prolific burst of creativity to stave off madness during lockdown – saw the band refine their brand of conceptual alt-pop, with songs taking a closer look at themes of identity, belonging, progress and escapism. It comprised three EPs released over a six-month period – Automatic Tendencies, Melted Medium and Pixel Wilderness – each embracing a mixtape aesthetic, by including alternative “sunken” versions by the band as well as covers and remixes of new Firestations tracks by other artists. Copsey, who is an illustrator, curated collections of unique limited-edition artworks that expanded on ideas within each release, from a brass chip fork to a ceramic mountain. Thick Terrain sees Firestations find their way back to the full album format again at last, following a period of writing and reconfiguration – bassist Giles Littleford departing for the Midlands, replaced by Walsh. In mid-2022 the band entered Otterhead Studios in Warwickshire, and quickly turned out a set of songs which felt like they belonged together. Ten tracks, ranging from cyclical hypnotic sci-fi numbers to addictive dream-pop jangles, exploring ideas around identity, conflict, progress and sanity, or a lack of it. “Where is the joy?” sings chief songwriter Cranny on ‘Undercover’. “Is it over? Where is the joy? Still undercover?” “Album titles are tricky,” says Cranny, of the story behind Thick Terrain. “You just sort of have to go fishing in your subconscious until you catch something that speaks to you. We had a series of pub-based meetings, where we free-associated some of the meanings of the songs, just blurted things out and wrote them down. The regulars probably thought we were crazy. “There were themes of strange landscapes, psychology and disillusionment in the music. Laura came up with ‘ick terrain’ – she’d been watching Love Island at the time (which she insists was cultural research) – apparently ‘ick’ is a thing and we liked the sound. The music also feels grounded in place, which speaks to the ‘terrain’ part. We then adapted it to Thick Terrain, as Laura felt this would fit well with artwork ideas, given she is a big fan of thick milkshakes. It was then only a slight sidestep to the ‘jelly on a spoon’ album cover (see below) – a collaboration with our good friends and artists KeelerTornero – weird joy embedded in the landscape. Thick Terrain had a nice weighty kind of weirdness about it that we all gravitated towards. It felt like it just had to be the title. We’re all in the thick terrain.”

Terry Emm- Island Soul (Official Video)

Pre-Order Terry Emm’s fourth album ‘Wish You Were Here’ now here: https://terryemm.bandcamp.com/ ‘Island Soul’ is the third single to come from critically acclaimed Hertfordshire singer-songwriter Terry Emm’s forthcoming fourth album ‘Wish You Were Here’, due out May 19th. ‘Island Soul’ is a departure from the previous two singles ‘Wish You Were Here’ and ‘November Evenings’, which are both richly woven melancholic Americana tracks. ‘Island Soul’, however, is a joyous calypso built on nylon strung guitar and an infectious shuffling rhythmic groove, with Emm’s storytelling bringing emotions through amongst the lazy surf-folk vibes. Maz O’Connor’s sweet guest vocals elevate the repeating hummed sections throughout this story of an Island romance. On the song, Emm said, “I love the atmosphere of staying in a hotel and it’s somewhere where I often find inspiration to write. There’s a certain mystery in the air as to who might also be staying there and who I might meet. When I wrote ‘Island Soul’, I was thinking slightly of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Chelsea Hotel’, but it’s also loosely based on an old demo song I wrote as a teenager about wanting to escape to live on an Island.” Produced by and featuring the instrumental talents of Lukas Drinkwater, ‘Island Soul’ is sure to turn heads with its colourful beach-ready sound and catchy hooks. The vibrant animated video for the track, created by Holly McIntosh & Sam Wisternoff, is a hazy daydream of dancing crabs and mermaids as Emm imagines disappearing to live on his very own desert Island. It’s another exciting single of what’s shaping up to be a gorgeous and unpredictable fourth album from Emm. Emm’s three album releases to date have received praise from the likes of BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris, BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins, Gideon Coe & Tom Robinson, MOJO Magazine, Uncut Magazine, The Guardian and many more, but despite the critical acclaim, somehow Emm’s music has still remained very much under the radar. However, in 2021, Emm’s song ‘Gently’ was featured at a key moment in the narrative of award-winning Toronto based author Jacquelyn Middleton’s Amazon #1 best-selling novel ‘The Certainty Of Chance’, proving the ability of his music to travel around the globe and perhaps hinting at a change in the tide for his career. Pictish Trail - It Came Back (Official Video feat. James Acaster)

From Pictish Trail's new album 'Island Family', out 18th March. Pre-order/listen here: https://fire-records.lnk.to/PTItCameBackID Directed by Sam Wisternoff (SJ Esau), 'It Came Back' is a glitchy, imploding pop video that dives into the hilarious and infuriating world of video communication. It also features a special guest appearance from esteemed UK comedian James Acaster. "I wanted it to feel as though the video was turning in on itself, mutating and coming apart at the seams. Stuck at home isolation distorting reality.” Sam Wisternoff (SJ Esau) The understated verses of 'It Came Back', with their tense, foreboding bass-driven electro hip-hop accompaniment, bursts to life with an arms-aloft falsetto chorus, and a brain-shattering industrial metal meltdown. 'Island Family' is the fifth album from Isle-of-Eigg dwelling electro-acoustic psych-pop wonder Pictish Trail, AKA Johnny Lynch. A strange, unpredictable, sardonic and yet deeply personal record inspired by all from Fever Ray to The Flaming Lips, Liars, Mercury Rev and Beck, Island Family is Pictish Trail’s contrarian view of arcadia; a search for the euphoric in the bucolic, bound up in sometimes conflicting ideas and feelings around nature and environment, sincerity and artifice, escapism and belonging. It’s an album about how no man can remain an island, however hard he might try. Pictish Trail - Natural Successor (Official Video)

'Natural Successor' is the new single from Pictish Trail. Listen/order here: https://fire-records.lnk.to/PictishTrailNSID "Natural Successor is the first in a new batch of songs that is my attempt to reconnect with my surroundings and surrender to the forces of nature. Lockdown on Eigg will do that to you. For the accompanying video, I wanted to co-ordinate a shoot on the island itself - and when director Sam Wisternoff got in touch at the start of the year, keen to work on a project together, I sent him over this song and explained the direction I was going in. I was looking to create a family of characters to represent different natural phenomena, each determined to exact their disastrous revenge for the destruction to the planet I was causing as an individual. For the design of the characters, Davey ’Swatpaz’ Ferguson was my first port of call - he’d worked on all the illustrations and animation for my previous album, Thumb World, and his work is that sublime mix of humorous and freaky. I requested some over-sized Frank Sidebottom style heads, something that looks larger than life, and he delivered a CGI smorgasbord of swollen-headed monsters - including a plate shifting crater-face volcanic eruption, a devastating tidal wave, a wildly overgrown green man, a plague-ridden dog-fly pandemic nightmare and a nuclear mutation Pictish casualty. Four different prop-makers brought these heads to life, including my friends Hailey Beavis and Faith Eliott of OK Pal Records. For the shoot itself, I lured a group of good pals over to Eigg for a weekend of partying, and then forced them to take part in a music video as soon as they arrived, making sure there was plenty of booze involved (for morale). Surprisingly they were all up for it - even the ones that had to wear spandex suits. It was a dream team, with frequent collaborators Beth Chalmers, James Hankins, Ben Cormack and my partner Sarah, filming us across different locations on the island. Eternal love and respect to my cast of monsters - Claire, Craig and especially Sarah-Jane and Callum for wearing the spandex. The fight scene / cocoon hatching / dance routine is probably the finest work I’ve ever been involved with, and should surely bag us a Scottish BAFTA. It’s been months and months of planning and scheming, and I’m really chuffed with the result. Don’t worry, I’m gonna get my money’s worth out of those heads - you’ll be seeing more of these characters soon." Pictish Trail Directed, Animated + Edited by Sam Wisternoff Filmed by Beth Chalmers, James Hankins, Ben Cormack and Sarah Boden on the Isle of Eigg, Scotland. Character Heads designed by David ‘Swatpaz’ Ferguson Character Heads made by Leah Kurzepa, Jenny Simmons, Hailey Beavis and Faith Eliott Characters played by Claire McKay, Craig Angus, Sarah-Jane Marsden and Callum Govan Thank you: Pual, Malcolm, Gloria, Ben, Laura, Stephanie, Sharon, Armida, Colin and Haddock for morale. Zoon van snooK 'Teotihuacan' - (Official Video)

‘Teotihuacan’ is the second track to be taken from the Bristolian (by way of Barcelona) producer’s current album ‘Se·pa·ra·ción’ and is available digitally with an exclusive and achingly delicate reworking by the multi-instrumentalist trio Haiku Salut. 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: http://bit.ly/zvsTEO The field recording used as the basis of ‘Teotihuacan’ is a Mesoamerican flute played at the ancient site of the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, replete with natural reverb bouncing between the ancient structures. Zoon van snooK’s third long player ‘Se·pa·ra·ción’ consists of ten beautifully woven tracks that were built around field recordings harvested in South and Central America in 2018. Foregoing his [un]usual experimental elec-trickery, the new album sees snooK strip the solo piano tracks right back while still retaining his celebrated technique of building each song around the melody, rhythm and soundscape of far-flung field recordings. Video directed by Sam Wisternoff for Ill Spectre Productions, in collaboration with Caleb Bruce.
